Is there money for additional payments? Tusk admonishes Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz
Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz criticizes the idea of subsidizing loans and informed that there is no money in the budget for this anyway. The Prime Minister did not like this, who announced that he would “expect an explanation from the Minister”.
Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz first criticized the idea of mortgage loan subsidies, and later announced with satisfaction on social media that it would end with announcements, because the draft budget did not provide money for the “Startup Loan” anyway.
Tusk on criticism of “Start-up Loan”
Donald Tusk apparently no longer likes the tone of these statements.
– The facts are different, I will expect an explanation from the minister – commented Prime Minister Donald Tusk during Friday’s press conference.
He added that the minister “interpreted our (government’s – ed.) decision in a very imprecise way.”
– This decision was obvious and clear to everyone. It was a decision that we have a reserve, a really big reserve, billions of zlotys for housing and construction and that depending on which of the projects gains the majority of votes, which of them will seem the most effective – this will depend on which project, how much money we will allocate – explained the head of government.
Donald Tusk assured that work on the zero percent loan project is ongoing and is the most advanced of all the projects concerning construction and housing currently being dealt with by the ruling coalition.
– In this sense, it is exactly the opposite, there are funds for various forms of housing support, including 0% credit. Which of these solutions will be ultimately chosen is still ahead of us – he pointed out.
Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz first openly criticized the subsidy program at the beginning of August. She returned to the subject a few days ago. On RMF FM, she said that a 0 percent loan is bad public policy because it “leads to an increase in housing prices, the PiS version of this program has already led to this by a dozen or so percent.”
– As a result, other people who buy without this assistance have to pay more, and those who buy with assistance have to take out a loan for more. So in effect, they do not earn anything from it. Who earns? Banks, which give bigger loans, and developers, who increase the prices of apartments – believes the minister.
Activists to protest against loan subsidies
Several organizations have announced a protest in front of the Ministry of Development and Technology, which is imposing the program, for Saturday. “The snail’s pace of work on the bill, the delay in its further processing, and the withdrawal of support from some politicians show that pressure from society is bringing results! All the more reason to keep up the pressure – although some politicians have nominally withdrawn support for the bill, there are buyers of apartments in every party, who definitely benefit from the increase in property prices! We cannot let our guard down and we will not stop resisting!” – it was written in the invitation to the protest on social media.
