Is there a shopping Sunday today? Where will we shop?

Handel w niedzielę 1 czerwca – gdzie zrobić zakupy?

The last Sunday of September is a non -commercial Sunday. Most large stores will be closed, but some points still accept customers.

Although the end of the month for many people may mean the need to replenish stocks, on Sunday, September 28, trade is forbidden resulting from the Act on restriction of trade on Sundays and holidays. This does not mean, however, that all service points remain closed.

Exceptions provided for in the Act allow you to continue operating in specific industries – thanks to which customers can still count on access to the most important products and services, although the choice will be more limited than on a weekday.

Where will we shop on Sunday, September 28?

Markets and shopping malls are closed today, but the regulations provide for a number of exceptions. Trade and services still operate in several key areas. Here are places that remain open:

  • petrol stations – full service of travelers and a standard range,

  • pharmacies and pharmacy points – medical medicines and products,

  • florists,

  • Gastronomy – restaurants, cafes and other gastronomic points,

  • post offices – if revenues from postal services exceed 40% of turnover,

  • Small stores run in person by the owner – including local stores, vegetables or franchises (e.g. Żabka).

It is worth remembering that, according to the regulations, the owner or his immediate family can stand behind the counter themselves and sell. This solution supports smaller stores and enables them to operate on days covered by trade.

Store opening hours on Sunday, September 28

Although some shops and service outlets operate legally today, their opening hours are on non -commercial Sunday shorter or more flexible.

Fuel and pharmacy stations often work round the clock or according to a permanent schedule, but the owners of small stores themselves set the working hours on this day. Before leaving, it is worth checking local information – on websites or directly on the store’s website.

When will the next commercial Sunday be?

Today, large stores remain closed, just like every Sunday of October. The next opportunity to shop on Sunday will not appear until December 7. On this day, shopping malls, supermarkets and groceries will be open without statutory restrictions.
