Is there a shopping Sunday today? Where will I shop on February 23?

It cannot be hidden that this is one of the most frequently asked questions every Sunday. Like a long and wide country, we are wondering where we can do shopping, when after Saturday there were no important products at home. Housing estate, supermarket or maybe a shopping center? What is open today?

Of course, most of us are aware that in the last few years trade on Sunday has been significantly limited, by virtue of an appropriate law, which has entered into force during the rule of the United Right. Let’s remind.

Trade ban on Sunday. Details

The ban on Sunday trading in Poland was introduced under the Act of 10 January 2018 on restriction of trade on Sundays and holidays and on some other days. This regulation began to apply from March 1, 2018, and its provisions were gradually tightened. Initially, trade was allowed on selected Sundays, but from 2020 it was limited to only seven commercial Sundays a year. However, the Act provides for numerous exceptions, which we mention at the bottom of the text.

Is February 23 a commercial Sunday?

Well, no. Today, on February 23, 2025, it is not a commercial Sunday. This means that most large shops and shopping centers remain closed. The next commercial Sunday falls on April 13, 2025.

Trade Sundays 2025. List

In 2025, the legislator planned eight commercial Sundays, of which three in December. In the remaining eleven months we will be able to do shopping on the last day of the week five times.

• August 31, 2025

• December 21, 2025

On other Sundays, trade is banned, which means that large retail chains, such as Biedronka, Lidl, Dino, Netto, Auchan, Carrefour, Kaufland are closed. We will not make purchases in large shopping centers or smaller shopping parks.

Where can you do shopping on non -commercial Sundays?

Despite the ban on trade, there are facilities that can operate on non -commercial Sundays. These include:

• Gas stations

• Pharmacies

• Florists

• Housing stores, in which the owner or members of his family stand behind the counter

• Post offices, if revenues from postal activities constitute at least 40 percent. revenues of a given store

An example is the Żabka chain stores, which often operate on a franchise principle and can be open on non -commercial Sundays, provided that certain criteria are met.
