The elections in PZKosz are fast approaching. Radosław Piesiewicz, who is also the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, is stepping down. Marcin Gortat bluntly talks about the situation in Polish basketball
Marcin Gortat, who supports the candidacies of Jacek Jakubowski and Filip Kenig and warns against the other candidates, spoke on this matter. In an interview with TVP Sport, he accused Bachański of “taking care only of his account balance” and Koszarek of “being a puppet of the departing president Radosław Piesiewicz”.
According to the former NBA player, Polish basketball is not developing. Let us remind you that at the last tournaments we took 8th place at the World Championships and 4th at the Eurobasket – It would seem that after two great national team successes, there should be a great reset and a step forward. Yet. Everything stands still, there are no innovations, no training, both for players and coaches – he continued.
Marcin Gortat: Polish basketball is going to the bottom
Marcin Gortat cited the example of Polish volleyball, which is developing after successive successes. – In the case of basketball, it’s the opposite. We have fewer and fewer players, the Polish league has not become stronger, and we had one of the largest budgets in history, PLN 76 million. Polish basketball is going to the bottom – he emphasized.
– We have fewer and fewer players in the EuroLeague. Even if they are, they are sitting on the bench. There are practically no coaches in Europe representing Polish training ideas, including the fact that our national team coach is a foreign coach. There is no player in any youth team who could make it to the NBA, he concluded.
