Millions of Apple phone users could be at risk from the latest hack. The company appealed to its customers to react quickly.

Cybersecurity specialists discovered a large-scale hacker attack targeting Apple customers. iPhone owners were attacked using the DarkSword tool. According to Techcrunch.com, the risk is further increased by posting a newer version of the tool on GitHub.

Mostly based on HTML and JavaScript, the code is simple and can be run by virtually anyone. Preparing the attack takes just a few minutes, and its execution does not require any specialized knowledge of the iOS system.

As experts emphasize, devices with outdated operating systems are mainly at risk. We are talking primarily about iOS 18 and older. Apple believes that the problem may affect up to hundreds of millions of active devices, including iPads. Through DarkSword you can steal, among others: contact list, messages, call history or even passwords saved in the system.

In response to the detected threat, the company appealed to update the system. Apple has released security patches that are intended to be the best way to protect against current hacking attacks. At the same time, it was reassured that devices with the latest software and lock mode are resistant.

The existence of the threat was also confirmed by Google, whose experts told them not to ignore the situation. DarkSword is intended to be widely used by criminals. This tool has previously been linked to Russian hackers and their activities, including: in Ukraine. However, the public version is a completely new level of threat, especially when it comes to the scale of attacks.
