Interest in the European island is growing. It is a hit among the stars

Celebrity weddings can arouse a lot of emotions. It was no different in the case of the lavish wedding of Dua Lipa and Callum Turner, which at the turn of May and June turned into a three-day party on the streets of Palermo. Two main squares in the city were closed for the star and her future husband: Piazza Croce dei Vespri and Piazza Sant’Anna, which greatly irritated the residents. However, interest in Sicily among tourists has increased. “Since news of Dua Lipa’s hotel selection became public, searches for the property have increased by 306 percent in the last 90 days,” writes Euronews.

Sicily is a hit among celebrities and tourists

Lake Como, the wedding hit of stars, has lost interest in recent weeks in favor of Sicily. It’s all because of the famous wedding of Dua Lipa and Callum Turner, who at the beginning of June, together with a group of exclusive guests, had fun in Palermo, the capital of the island. The event was closed, but took place in public places – residents and tourists lost free access to their streets and squares. Public opinion was outraged by this, which ultimately prompted the international star of Albanian origin to pay compensation to the injured residents of the island.

However, tourism benefits from everything to some extent. According to Euronews, the Italian island has become the center of attention of tourists planning summer trips. “According to Google data, in Italy the number of searches related to the singer’s wedding venue has increased by 94 percent in the last week,” we read.

The luxury hotel where Dua Lipa slept

The hotel where the star slept is also important. While on the island, Dua Lipa stayed at Villa Igiea in Palermo. Internet searches for this place have increased by 306 percent in the last 90 days. “The luxurious, five-star hotel located on the Mediterranean Sea has been attracting famous people for years. In the past, representatives of European royal families and movie stars stayed here,” we read.

This is not the first such situation – previously “The White Lotus” was filmed in Sicily. The places featured in the series (as well as the hotel itself) quickly gained the interest of millions.
