On Tuesday, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) presented a quick estimate of the consumer price index in June. Preliminary data shows that consumer inflation amounted to 2.5 percent this month. year to year, compared to 3.1 percent a month earlier. On a month-to-month basis, there was a decrease of 0.5%.
– In June 2026, the prices of consumer goods and services according to the flash estimate were higher year-on-year by 2.5% (price index 102.5), and compared to the previous month they decreased by 0.5% (price index 99.5) – we read in the announcement published by the Central Statistical Office.
Today’s data are better than economists predicted. The market consensus was 2.7%.

Data presented by the Central Statistical Office show that the category of fuel and lubricants for private means of transport had the greatest impact on the May reading, which increased by 5.3% last month. more expensive than a year earlier. It is worth emphasizing, however, that compared to May, there was a decline in this category by as much as 7.4%. In the electricity, gas and other fuels category, there was an increase of 4.8%. year to year (monthly there was a decrease of 0.4%). In turn, in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, there was a decline both annually and monthly (by 0.3% and 0.7%, respectively).
The final data on consumer inflation for June will be released in the first half of next month.
