Inflation in Poland. The disturbing estimates have been confirmed
Inflation in April was 3.2%. year to year – the Central Statistical Office reported, thus confirming preliminary estimates.
On Friday, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) presented the final data on consumer inflation in April. It amounted to 3.2 percent, compared to 3 percent. a month earlier. Compared to the previous month, prices of goods and services increased by 0.6%. (including services by 1.2% and goods by 0.4%). – Prices of consumer goods and services in April 2026 increased by 3.2%. compared to the same month last year (price index 103.2) – we read in the announcement of the Central Statistical Office.
Inflation up, but still on target
Thus, the Central Statistical Office confirmed the preliminary estimates of consumer inflation in April presented two weeks ago. It is worth emphasizing, however, that today’s reading is within the NBP’s inflation target of 2.5%. per annum, with a symmetrical deviation range of 1 percentage point.
The Office indicates in the announcement that, compared to March, the greatest impact on the price index of consumer goods and services in general had higher prices in the following areas: food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 0.6%), use of an apartment or house, supply of water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 0.6%), clothing and footwear (by 2.5%), recreation, sports and culture (by 0.9%), information and communication (by 0.8%) and health (by 0.6%), which increased the indicator by: 0.15 percentage points, 0.12 percentage points, 0.09 percentage points, 0.06 percentage points, respectively. and 0.04 percentage points each.
Compared to April 2025, higher prices include: in terms of: use of an apartment or house, supply of water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 4.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 1.9%), transport (by 3.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (by 6.7%), health (by 5%) and recreation, sport and culture (by 4.6%), increased the index by: 0.97 percentage points, respectively, 0.50 percentage points, 0.36 percentage points, 0.32 percentage points, 0.31 percentage points and 0.29 percentage points Lower prices including: clothing and footwear (by 2.8%) and home and household equipment (by 0.8%) reduced the indicator by 0.11 percentage points and 0.04 percentage points, respectively.
