Incident at Chopin Airport. Air traffic has been temporarily suspended

For over half an hour, air traffic at Warsaw Chopin Airport was suspended. All because of an incident that occurred on the airport tarmac.

Passengers who were scheduled to fly from Warsaw Chopin Airport on Monday, September 2, had to reckon with temporary disruptions. All because of an incident that occurred on the airport runway.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. there was an collision involving a light civilian aircraft Aero AT-3 during the so-called touch and go operation. Warsaw Airport spokeswoman Anna Dermont explained that this is a training operation during which the plane lands and, without leaving the runway, immediately takes off.

Initially, the TVN Warszawa portal reported that the plane had skidded off the runway. Anna Dermont clarified that the plane had not skidded off the runway, but had simply driven onto the grass and stopped there.

– The airport services immediately arrived at the scene and took action. Two people were involved in the incident, but they were not injured: the pilot and the trainee. No other aircraft were involved in the situation. As a result of the incident Air traffic at the airport was temporarily suspended – explained the spokeswoman.

The disruption lasted for nearly 30 minutes. Initially, traffic was limited to one runway, but after 4 p.m., normal operations were resumed on the other runway.
