In this country, Poles are being ripped off all the time. The embassy is warning

In Croatia, Polish tourists are being scammed out of big money. The embassy warns against fake services on the roads in the holiday country.

Any of us can fall victim to dishonest practices. It is easy to make a mistake, especially during the holidays, when our common sense is somewhat dormant. Scammers take advantage of this, waiting for our inattention to extract large amounts of money. Such behavior is commonly encountered by Poles coming to Croatia. The embassy has issued a warning against fake services offered on the roads in this holiday country.

Frauds on Poles in Croatia

The “tow truck” scam is a popular form of extorting money from drivers in need. This procedure, which involves fake companies offering their services, using an inflated price list, is encountered by Polish drivers in many European countries. A few months ago, we warned about this form of swindling tourists, which is increasingly observed in France. Now, the Polish Embassy in Croatia has warned against dishonest tricks. The institution located in Zagreb published a message on social media, in which it reveals who to contact in the event of a crisis while traveling by car.

Use reputable roadside assistance

What to do if you break down while driving to popular Croatian resorts? Under no circumstances should you use unauthorized companies that appear a few minutes after an accident with their high-priced offer. As the Polish embassy warns, fake roadside assistance services (repairs and towing) can be found throughout the Republic of Croatia, including on the popular A1 motorway towards the Adriatic (especially on the Ogulin – Gospić section in the summer months). “In the event of a breakdown, use only the reputable roadside assistance of the Croatian Auto Club (HAK – Hrvatski autoklub: tel. 1987 or from abroad +385 1 1987; +385 1 4693 700), preferably after prior contact with the insurer (we recommend having an appropriate “Assistance” policy). All roadside assistance vehicles of companies associated with HAK are yellow and have HAK markings,” we read.
