New data from the Central Statistical Office show clear changes in the Polish industry. Some industries are accelerating significantly, but others are still experiencing declines.

The Central Statistical Office has published preliminary data on industrial production for April 2026. According to the office’s information, an increase in production sold at constant prices was recorded in 18 out of 34 industry sectors.

The greatest increase was recorded in the extraction of hard coal and brown coal. Production in this sector was higher by 27.1%. compared to April last year. Strong results were also recorded in the production of other transport equipment, where the increase amounted to 15.5%.

Waste management and raw materials recovery were also among the sectors with significant growth. In this case, production increased by 15.3%. year to year. Higher results were also recorded in the electricity, gas, steam and hot water sectors. Here the increase was 11.6%.

Positive dynamics was also recorded in the production of metals, which increased by 9.8 percent, and in the production of machinery and equipment – by 9.6 percent. Rubber and plastic products increased production by 9.3%, while products made of other non-metallic mineral raw materials increased by 8.6%.

Not all sectors improved their results

At the same time, the Central Statistical Office informed that production in 16 industry sectors was lower than a year earlier. The largest decline concerned the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment. In this case, the result was 4% lower.

Decreases also occurred in the production of beverages, where the result was 3.8 percent lower. year to year. Furniture production decreased by 3.4%, and the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers decreased by 2.4%.

The Central Statistical Office shows clear differences between industries

April’s data show that the situation in the Polish industry remains highly diversified. Some sectors are recording a clear rebound and production growth, while others are still under pressure from weaker demand.

The strongest growth occurred in industries related to raw material extraction, energy and industrial production, while weaker results were recorded, among others, industries related to the automotive, furniture and beverage industries.
