PR manager Iga Światek spoke on the matter. – The Miami incident was immediately reported to the WTAas well as to the organizers of the tournament itself. It was recorded in a special department that deals with such incidents and supervises the ongoing safety of players. However, we know that this person still creates accounts on social media and operates under various pseudonyms – says Daria Sulgostowska in an interview with Interia Sport.
For the safety and comfort of tennis players The WTA decided to launch a procedure commonly referred to as the “blacklist”. Each player may provide details of a person whose presence they do not wish to be present during the tournament, which excludes the possibility of purchasing a ticket, but also of receiving accreditation and employment in specific competitions.
According to Interia, the man who bothered Świątek in Miami was not included on such a list because His identity has not yet been established. The WTA authorities received a photo with his blurred image, which was supposedly secured on one of the no longer existing social media accounts.
– Our task is, above all, to take care of the athlete’s safety – says Iga Świątek’s manager. – We cooperate closely with WTA representatives in this regard, who approach the issue in a very responsive manner and quickly respond to signals about any undesirable incident – she added.
