In the quarterfinals, Keys beat Ukrainian Elina Switolina.
As for the holidays, the Polish woman lost only 14 games, overcoming the next obstacles to the best four AO 2025. The Polish woman impressed with their form, but it was known that in the clash with Keys there would be a collision with a “big hitter”, a very striking player, in the style of the game mentioned above Sabalenki. The bar went much higher.
The American in the Grand Slam finals, however, only played once, relatively long ago, because in 2017, during the US Open. In total, Keys reached the seven semi -finals of the Great Slam, in Melbourne at this stage she played for the third time. The American is also more experienced than Christmas, in February it will be 30 years old. Interestingly, in direct competition, however, this Polish woman leads, holding four wins and only one defeat in matches with Keys.
Thursday semi -final began with madness in the form of a series of breaks on both sides. It was only after 18 minutes that Świątek won her service game, going to the lead 3: 2. What’s more, Keys for the first time defended her pass by defending … set ball.
The Polish woman led 5: 2 and was 40:30, but the American managed to defend herself. In addition, Keys managed to even out (5: 5) and press Christmas, although ultimately the semi -finalist Australian Open from 2022 reached after the first set. The Polish woman won 7: 5 after 49 minutes of play.
Madison Keys reply. The American knocked out the Polish woman
When it seemed that Świątek found a way to Keys, the one in the second party even demolished the opponent. The Polish woman lost the 1: 6 set after just 27 minutes. Keys four times, not giving properly a chance to answer his increasingly stronger, and most importantly – hit a tennis rocket. Świątek only managed to put herself due to one break in the sixth game. The Polish woman also had her chance in the next game, but this time the American came out with a defensive hand from oppression (3: 2). It got hot in the eighth game, when running Keys 4: 3 and Świątek. The Polish woman broke a straight ball under the net, which made it 15:40 on the scoreboard. Ultimately, however, Świątek managed to defend herself and equalize at 4: 4. Until the ninth game, both tennis players approached, having two hours of play in their legs.
As it often happens in tennis, what Keys could not do, in the next game she could do Christmas. The Polish woman had four break points, starting from 40: 0. Keys, who shouted with joy after winning the game at 5: 4, finally endured great exchanges on both sides.
Świątek leveled at 5: 5, after which the script was repeated with 0:40 at Keys. The American at the end of the third set did not avoid mistakes. However, when it was bad, the American was strongly helped by the great first pass and forhend. However, nothing happens twice and the Polish woman got her, winning for the third chance of breaking (40:30) and going out 6: 5.
Well, but of this. Świątek was 40:30 and a match ball at her website, but Keys once again showed how great the tournament in Melbourne. She defended herself, and a sad end was … a double service error to break back. It became clear that the final result would be determined by the so -called Super tie-break, a party played not to seven, but ten points.
It was the best script for this tennis battle. With 2.5 hours in the legs, they both broke up once again. It was in Australia after midnight, and Keys and Świątek did not intend to give anything for free.
Scenario Super Tie-Break? Świątek could not jump to more than two points, but Keys was consistently approaching, finally leveling 7: 7. Ultimately, Keys won, using the first match ball at 9: 8 and the Polish service. Saint, unfortunately, for Polish fans and the person concerned, she threw the ball in the cars.
