Iga Świątek with huge support after suspension. “I couldn’t do anything”
Iga Świątek discovered the secret related to the last months of her career. The Pole suffered a doping mishap, which resulted from contamination of a well-known drug.
Iga Świątek announced the situation that happened in September on Thursday, November 28. The Polish tennis player has only now been cleared of the charges of knowingly taking prohibited substances. Ultimately, however, the Pole was punished with a one-month suspension by the International Tennis Integrity Agency, as announced in a special announcement.
Iga Świątek movingly about “the most important fight in life”
The Pole decided to publish the video on social media. On Instagram, in her long entry and words spoken to the camera, she explained what exactly happened. And why she had to disappear after the 2024 US Open.
– This is definitely something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. It took a lot of strength. Back to training when the whole situation generally broke my heart. There was a lot of crying and sleepless nights. The uncertainty was the worst. I didn’t know what was going to happen with my career. And I didn’t know how this situation would end, whether I would be able to play tennis at all next time, admitted the Pole.
She also added that she could count on support from her relatives. Together with the tennis player, her entire team fought to clear the charges and find the source of the doping blunder. As it ultimately turned out, the problem was a contaminated batch of melatonin, which the Pole takes on an ongoing basis during the season, among others. for sleep problems.
– I am grateful to my family, my team. People who stayed with me no matter what happened. From the beginning, everyone rallied to help me. For this I will always be extremely grateful, said Świątek.
Additionally, she delivered an important message regarding her career. The Pole also addressed the fans who support her throughout her sports career. It is no secret that in recent years, Świątek has been number 1, not only in the WTA ranking, but above all – among Polish athletes. In terms of global popularity, only Robert Lewandowski could compete with her.
– This situation hurts me very much, because all my life I wanted to have a career that would set an example for the next generation. Which will be fair in a sense, which will show that I have always been fair. It will show all the values that a top athlete should have. And I have the impression that this situation may disturb the image I have built over the years. So I hope you will understand what happened, you will understand how much I had no control over it. And that there was nothing I could have done to prevent this unfortunate situation from happening to me. I hope you will stay with me and support me, because this is extremely important to me. Without the support of the fans, I don’t know if I would have found the strength to keep fighting sometimes, in difficult moments. Now I have fought the most important fight in my life and I hope you will stay with me and support me – Świątek concluded the recording with hope.
