This will be the last chord of the 2024 season for Iga Świątek. The finals of the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga will be an opportunity to see the Polish national tennis team in action.

The team will play under the baton of coach Dawid Celt, who is the team captain. The Polish national tennis team included: Iga Świątek, Magda Linette, Magdalena Fręch, Maja Chwalińska and Katarzyna Kawa.

The Polish women will play their first match against the hosts of the final Billie Jean King Cup 2024 tournament in Malaga. The Spanish team will start the competition with the following squad: Badosa, Bouzas Maneiro, Parrizas Diaz, Sorribes Tormo, Bassols Ribera.

Świątek will have the opportunity to play in the national team for the first time during the final tournament. For example, last season the best Polish singles player did not have such an opportunity, mainly due to the proximity of the dates to the WTA Finals.

This time, however, we managed to combine both individual and representative performances. Let us add that Świątek won two matches and lost one during the WTA Finals. However, this did not allow us to advance from the group. The Pole lost in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to the future winner of the entire competition, Coco Gauff.

– This is my first time in this tournament at the final stage, so I feel very excited. I’m glad to be part of the team. I had wanted this for several years, but due to the schedule it was very complicated, almost impossible. This season my schedule wasn’t so tight. I hope that I will play good matches here – admitted Świątek just before the start of the BJKC finals, quoted by TVP Sport.
