Iga Świątek took a rematch for the Games in Paris. The Polish woman chased the black clouds

In two sets, Iga Świątek dealt with Qinwen Zheng in the quarter -finals of the BNP Paribas Open 2025. The Polish woman repaid Chinese for a defeat in the Olympic tournament.
These types of duels are never easy. It is difficult to find duels at the level of the quarter -finals of the WTA 1000 rank tournament, which can be described as simple and pleasant. Although Qinwen Zheng is certainly not the same Chinese in their form as during the Olympic tournament in Paris, Iga Świątek knew that she had to win his own on the court in Indian Wells.
BNP Paribas Open: Iga Świątek beat Qinwen Zheng. A successful rematch for Paris
The Polish tennis player before Thursday’s quarter -final in the United States, where she defends the championship title, had a 6: 1 balance in favor, looking at the competition with the Chinese rival. The problem, however, is that this is the most important – at least for now – the start, however, was won by Zheng. The memory of the IO 2024 semi -final, after which Świątek flooded with tears, because that day the opponent was better on the court. What’s more, at the facility Roland Garros in Paris, which is the most liked by the Polish woman.
Failure 2: 6, 5: 7 certainly left its mark. The Polish woman finally got up, reaching for the bronze medal IO 2024 – the first for Poland in the history of tennis. However, in the case of Chinese, it ended as best as you could imagine. Zheng became an Olympic champion and went down in the history of discipline.
What was the quarter -final meeting during the BNP Paribas Open? Świątek, set up with number 2, imposed her style of playing from the beginning. In the first game it was already 3: 0 and 5: 1 for a Polish woman.
Ultimately, Chinese, tournament number 6, managed to pull the result to 6: 3 for Christmas at the finish of the opening set. It was hard, however, not to get the impression that Zheng was aware of how good the rival on the other side of the net she has.
Second set? Even stronger opening of Christmas, because 4: 0. Zheng, however, did not end with zero on the side of the game in the party, winning the fifth installment and pressing the Polish woman at her service in the next game. The vice -leader of the WTA ranking managed to defend herself and get the sixth gem (5: 1), which eventually plunged Chinese hopes for anything more than … a good impression. And this, looking at Zheng’s potential and possibilities, seems to be at the beginning of 2025 – actually – at most average. It is worth returning, however, that the Olympic champion fought to the end. ZHEng reduced the advantage of Christmas to 3: 5, breaking the Polish service. But ultimately she closed the meeting successfully until Świątek.
Let’s add that at the very finish the meeting was for a few minutes … interrupted. Reason? Rainfall that does not leave the US during tennis struggles. Fortunately, in addition to the rain, the sun also appeared, and this gave a chance to close the meeting in the second batch with a 6: 3 result for a Polish woman. In addition to the rival, Świątek also managed to chase the black clouds over the court that day.
Interestingly, on the contrary, the Chinese woman rather wanted to stop the dominance of a Polish woman and try to approach saving the set after a long break …
Who will Świątek fight for the final with? The rival will be the talented Russian Mirrir Andrejew. Świątek met her in the recent WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai. Andrejew was a mountain not only in a match with a Polish woman, but also reached for the final trophy.
