However, whoever watches the matches with the participation of this Russian player, however, knows well that this is not a special surprise or thanks to Iga Świątek. Anna Kalinska certainly has great sports potential, but often not only the rival is an obstacle for this tennis player to achieve large results. US Open 2025: Iga Świątek – Anna Kalinska. The Polish woman reversed the match with the Russian
This was the case with the match of the third round of the US Open, the first in the evening session of New York time. Looking at Polish watches, both ladies appeared on the court at 1:00 am from Saturday to Sunday.
Świątek started with a easily winning service game (1: 0) and it seemed that it would be a signal to a favorable one in the next part of the first set. Nothing could be more wrong. The Polish woman lost another … five games, losing her own application twice. Kalinska played not like a tennis player from the 29th place in the WTA ranking, but a top dozens in the world. Practically flawlessly, not only well using your tennis arguments, but also forcing errors on the opponent.
A Polish woman from the Russian game managed to free herself for good since the state 1: 5. First, Świątek won the service game (2: 5), and then defended four set balls and consistently began … an opponent. Kalinska showed a more human face. The Russian woman made double service mistakes for power, there were shortcomings of the answer to the strong game of the Polish woman and the whole plan began to fall apart.
At 6: 2 in a tie-break in favor of a Polish woman, commenting on Eurosport, this meeting Lech Sidor admitted that Kalinska “fell into amok”. The Russian, actually, keeping all proportions, stopped focusing on what was happening on the court. She looked not only angry, but also even offended at such, unfavorable to her perspective, trading in cases. Finally, a dozen or so minutes earlier it was 5: 1, and the set ended at 6: 7 and a clear defeat in a tie-break up to 2: 7 (it started from 0: 5).
And when it seemed that the Polish woman would not let the opponent into this meeting, breaking her in the first game of the second set (1: 0), Świątek lost concentration for a few minutes and started the game from … 0:40. Kalinska did not even have to do much, and it got 1: 1, and then she began to go out to the lead (2: 1 or later 4: 3). However, if Świątek did not make glaring mistakes, it was almost certain that they would be committed by a Russian, still without a smile, although a little calmer than before.
Świątek waited for an opponent, after all, giving the impression of indifferent to attack and get a break to 5: 4. This vice -leader of the WTA ranking did not waste, closing the match in two sets, winning the second by winning 6: 4 at her website. However, it must be reflected that it was an interesting match, full of spectacular plays – if only the Russian woman was present in the game. The Polish woman once again showed that she could get out of a large oppression with a winning hand.
In the 1/8 final of the tournament in New York, the Polish woman will face … another “neutral” (read officially without a national flag) Russian. This time it will be placed with number 13 in the US Open 2025 Jekaterina Aleksandrowa. The bar goes higher and higher, looking at the level of difficulty of the challenge that will face Polish.
