On Sunday (i.e. May 24), the main tournament started on the courts. Roland Garros. Already on the first day there will be plenty of emotions related to the “Polish matches”.

There is no doubt that the vast majority of Polish fans are waiting for Iga Świątek’s successful performances. Where, if anywhere, but in the capital of France – the Queen of Paris – felt and feels exceptionally well.

As for Świątek’s opponent, the Pole will play her first match during RG 2026 next Monday (i.e. May 25).

The best Polish tennis player’s rival will be the Australian Emerson Jones, who is only 18 years old and ranks 136th in the WTA world ranking.

Two Polish singles players, Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch, will play their matches on Sunday (May 24).

It is worth adding that Maja Chwalińska, who completed the three-stage qualifications for RG 2026, will also take part in the tournament. As for the men’s tournament, Hubert Hurkacz and Kamil Majchrzak will play in the singles.

UPDATE: The organizers announced the times of Monday’s matches. Chwalińska will be the first to take to the court, from 11:00 a.m. she will face… the Olympic champion of the Olympic Games 2024, from the courts in Paris, China’s Qinwen Zheng. An hour later (i.e. 12:00), Świątek, Chwalińska’s friend, will enter the game.

It is worth recalling that Świątek won the Grand Slam event in the French capital four times. The Pole won for the first time in 2020. Then Świątek truly “introduced herself” to a wider audience.

Successes in the form of wins on the courts. The best Polish tennis player also repeated Roland Garros in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Last season, Świątek reached the semi-finals of the event, losing to Aryna Sabalenka after a three-set match. However, the Belarusian did not win the cup in Paris, because it ultimately fell to the American Coco Gauff. The US tennis player will therefore defend her championship title.

The list of Świątek’s successes in Paris also includes the Olympic medal, which the Pole won during the 2024 Games. Although the “Queen of Paris” was the main favorite for the Olympic gold medal, the Polish representative ultimately won the “consolation” in the form of a bronze medal. Looking at history, the first tennis event in the history of the Polish Olympic movement – which is certainly worth noting.

RG 2026 matches are shown on Eurosport, on a total of four channels of the station. Additionally, the online competition is available via the HBO Max platform. The competition in the main tournament is scheduled from May 24 to June 7.
