The athlete told how she found out about the whole doping issue. – I was on a photo shoot, halfway through, so I knew I had to finish it, but my reaction was very violent. Actually, it was a mixture of misunderstanding, panic and a lot of crying, admitted Iga Świątek.

The tennis player added that when she saw the email, she was unable to read it until the end because she burst into tears. – My managers were with me because we were at the photo session and they told me that my reaction was that they thought someone had died or something serious had happened to their health. Fortunately, I’m glad I wasn’t alone because I could give them my phone and show them what happened, she explained.

Iga Świątek added that at first she thought there had been a mistake. – I didn’t understand what was happening because the name of this substance was completely foreign to me. I didn’t think too much because I was flooded with emotions, she said.

The world’s No. 2 rocket added that she was “lucky in disguise because she still had melatonin with her, which she could have sent for testing.”

The tennis player admitted that she received huge support from other players. – I received a lot of support in private messages, I felt full understanding. Many athletes admitted that this is their biggest fear, it is no secret that athletes are afraid of such situations, she said.

Just getting on the court was difficult for me, said Iga Świątek. The player said that her sparring partner, Tomasz Moczek, helped her a lot in this difficult situation – he organized special training sessions for her to help her overcome her “tennis phobia”. – I love playing tennis, it is my passion, but I don’t love it enough to sacrifice my honor for sport – confessed the athlete.

It wasn’t easy, especially when you had been crying for five hours the day before, she admitted.
