Iga Świątek interrupted silence in Paris. “Everyone is asking me about it”

Iga Świątek

Iga Świątek met with journalists before the start of Roland Garros 2025. In Paris, the Polish woman answered many questions, raising important issues.

“Queen of Paris” won tournaments at the courts of Roland Garros. For the first time in the French capital Iga Świątek triumphed in 2020. Then the Polish woman won three times in a row, successively in editions 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Iga Świątek honestly about his perfectionism. The Polish woman admitted directly

This time the Polish woman came to Paris not as a leader or vice -leader of the WTA ranking, but player number 5 in the world. It is possible that such a lack of ranking pressure will affect the Polish woman. On the other hand, for last year’s victory, Świątek has a lot of points to defend.

One thing is certain. Świątek wants to change the approach and approach the competition not with the desire to do everything perfectly perfectly. What has happened in recent years – i.e. the dominance of the Polish woman – is the past and now one should find yourself in the new realities. And these for Christmas are not bad at all, because we are still talking about a leading tennis player in the world. Plus it is not said that Świątek will not be able to climb to the top again. However, this will be a consequence of subsequent, gradually achieved goals.

– I don’t think you could not be a perfectionist, but there are certainly ways to control it a little more. Recently, when I made mistakes on the court, I focused too much on them. I thought I was working on them, but it was more like deepening in them and I had to figure it out myself, even though my team told me that this was happening. I don’t know, I just thought I was working on it and I do it. Perfectionism has been a bit more difficult in the last few weeks, but to be honest, this is not the first time. This is probably the first time I talk about it so much because everyone is asking me, so I’m working on it. This is a constant trial – admitted the title defender during the Friday conference.

It is worth adding that the main tournament in Paris will see three Polish singles. In addition to Christmas, they will be Magdalena Fręch and Magda Linette. However, Kamil Majchrzak and Hubert Hurkacz will play among men.

The qualifications in Paris were lost by: Maja Chwalińska and Katarzyna Kawa (both in the second round) and Linda Klimovicova. The latter, born in Czech Olomouc, but representing Poland, lost at the last level of qualification in the third round.
