Iga Świątek was promoted to the semi -finals of the WTA 500 tournament in German Bad Homburg. The Polish woman in Thursday’s quarter -finals beat the Russian Yekaterina Aleksandrowa.

This is the last straight before the Grand Slam Wimbledon. Iga Świątek, as the last of the elements of preparation for the legendary tournament in London, chose the struggle during the WTA 500 Bad Homburg. In the German challenge, the Polish woman just won her second match and was already in the semi -final of the event. Although it must be admitted that on Thursday afternoon, meeting with Russian Yekaterina Aleksandrowa was very demanding.

Both tennis players had to fight not only with the opponent on the other side of the net, but also with weather conditions. It is mainly about a very tight wind, which in the case of playing on grass courts is an additional difficulty – whether at the site – or normal ball blows during the action.

Which, there is nothing to hide, she showed Świątek during the quarter -final battle with Aleksandrowa.

It was dangerous especially in the fourth game of the second party. Aleksandrów was already 40: 0 at the Świątek website, but the Polish woman consistently maintained concentration and managed to defend herself first, and then level it 2: 2 in the set.

With a result of 4: 3 for the Russian and 40:30 at the Polish service, the judge was forced to stop the meeting. It began to rain, what’s more, they also appeared in the distance from the Błyskawice court. It became clear that the meeting must be suspended until the appeal, and the surface is secured as soon as possible with a special sheet.

Tennis players returned to the game after over an hour. One can get the impression that this break … she worked well into both tennis players, because we saw some really spectacular and most importantly – effective play. Świątek and Aleksandrów arrived from the mentioned state 3: 4, from the perspective of a Polish woman, to tie-break, after almost equally an hour of the game (exactly 61 minutes).

The most important Polish, thirteenth game of the second set, won slightly. At the change of sides, we had a perfect draw (3: 3). Interestingly, the sun also appeared over the court. It smiled harder at Świątek. The Polish woman finally won 7: 5.

Jasmine Paolini will be the rival of Iga Świątek in the semi -final. Italian with Polish roots, one of the leading players of the last two seasons in the Toura WTA.

It is worth recalling that the Wimbledon 2025 main ladder starts from June 30 (Monday). The final of the ladies on July 12 (Saturday), and the day after the gentlemen (Sunday). The prize pool in this year’s edition of the tournament is 53.5 million pounds (approx. 267.6 million zlotys). Title in the single defends Czech Barbora Krejcikova and Spanish Carlos Alcraz.

The Polish woman in her career so far has reached a total of 22. Championship titles at the courts almost all over the world.

Świątek triumphed in five struggles in a great shelter, four times on the courts of Roland Garros (2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024) and once at the US Open (2022). In addition, the prestigious triumph in WTA Finals (2023) should be added.

In addition, won in WTA 1000 rank tournaments, respectively in Rome (2021, 2022, 2024), Dosze (2022 and 2024), Indian Wells (2022 and 2024), Miami (2022), Beijing (2023) and Madrid (2024).

The list also includes the WTA 500 struggle, successively: Adelajda (2021), Stuttgart (2022 and 2023), San Diego (2022) and the aforementioned Dosze (2023). Plus Polish accent, WTA 250 in Warsaw (2023).

After the Olympic tournament in Paris (2024), the bronze medal of the Games should be added to this list. The first album in the history of Polish Olympicism pulled out of competition on tennis courts.
