Iga Świątek has to wait. Check the schedule of Poles at the US Open
The US Open Grand Slam starts on Monday. In total, we have five Polish representatives in the main draws. We know when they should be on the court.
The US Open is the last Grand Slam event in the tennis calendar. It is a tournament that Iga Świątek associates well with. The Polish player has won a total of five Grand Slam titles. Four of them at Roland Garros, and one in New York. She reached for it in 2022, when she defeated Ons Jabeur in the grand final. She should be one of the favorites to win now.
Kaśnikowski makes his debut
On Monday, three Polish representatives will take to the courts of the US Open. Świątek is not among them. However, there are two other Polish players, Magdalena Fręch and Magda Linette. This will also be an important day for Maks Kaśnikowski. The talented 21-year-old played in the qualifying rounds for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career and immediately registered for the main draw. This means that Hubert Hurkacz will not be a Polish rarity in the men’s competition.
As for Monday’s game plan, Fręch will play Greet Minnen immediately after the Erika Andreyeva-Yue Yuan match (the match will start at 5 p.m.). Kaśnikowski will battle Pedro Martinez after Diane Parry’s game with Xinyu Wang (also starting at 5 p.m.). Magda Linette is scheduled to take to the same court right after Kaśnikowski’s match. The Poznań player will face Iva Jovic. Interestingly, her opponent is 16 years old and received a so-called wild card from the US Open organizers.
Świątek and Hurkacz will play on Tuesday
Specific times are given for Tuesday’s matches between Świątek and Hurkacz. The first to take to the court will be the Wrocław player, who is to start his battle with Timofey Skatov at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the WTA world ranking leader’s duel with Kamilla Rakhimova is to begin.
In the women’s US Open, Coco Gauff is defending her title, and in the men’s competition, Novak Djokovic. The US Open can be watched on two Eurosport TV channels and on the MAX platform.
