Iga Świątek

At the express pace Iga Świątek dealt with her first obstacle during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The Polish woman was very confidently beat Caroline Garcia.

Before the start of the second round meeting, one could wonder if Polish women are waiting for a difficult crossing – with experienced and quite good tennis – French. However, as the court showed, the first opponent of Iga Świątek in BNP Paribas Open was actually swept out of it. It was a demonstration of the strength of the WTA ranking.

BNP Paribas Open: Iga Świątek with winning, the defeat of Magda Linette

The most emotions for Polish fans were really before the meeting. Due to the long, three -hundred fight in the men’s tournament, in which German unexpectedly fell off Alexander Zwieriew (defeat with Dutch Tallon Griekspoor), subsequent meetings moved strongly.

Ultimately, Świątek and Garcia appeared on the court only after 1:00 am Polish time. However, the Polish tennis player decided not to break too much of her countrymen and compatriots. The first set 6: 2 in 36 minutes, the second 6: 0 in 27 minutes. Certainly, this is not how she imagined the match with the defender of the title at Indian Wells Garcia. However, French could only look helplessly at the upcoming tennis execution.

After the match of Świątek – Garcia, the second Polish representative Magda Linette appeared on the court. Poznanianka drew a very demanding rival, coming to Jessica Pegul. The American, however, had problems with an experienced Polish woman, especially in the first set. Linette lost, admittedly, being a little longer on the court than Świątek and Garcia (hour and 16 minutes), but the first set settled with a 4: 6 result can be saved as a plus Polish tennis player. The fourth rocket of the world had to sweat a lot to finally triumph over the Polish woman. In the second set, Pegula has already shown a claw, winning 6: 2 and closing victory in her area.

In the game in the single on Saturday (i.e. March 8) we will see two more Polish representatives. Magdalena Fręch will play with Italian Lucia Bronzetti (around 20:00), and Hubert Hurkacz with Frenchman Hugo Gaston (around 23:00).
