Hubert Hurkacz won the first round of Wimbledon against Casper Ruud (12th place in the ATP ranking), and in the next round against Sebastian Ofner (110th place). Both matches ended with the score 3:0 for the Pole.

In the next round of the Grand Slam tournament, Hurkacz faced Tommy Paul (21st place in the ATP ranking). The result of the first set was decided by the break that occurred in the third game, when the level of the Pole’s play was wavering. And although the serve itself brought him points, there were also unforced errors, which the American took advantage of. After less than 40 minutes of play, Paul won the first set (6:4).

In the second set, both tennis players were winning games quite confidently on their own serves, and the tie-break decided the fate. The Pole played under pressure because he was already losing 3:5, but eventually won the next four games and took the set (7:6). In the third part of the match, Hubert Hurkacz had several chances to break his opponent – in the seventh and ninth games, but he managed to do it only in the eleventh. The Pole won 7:5.

The fourth set turned out to be decisive. The American had several chances to break the Pole, but he did not use any of them. Unlike Hurkacz, who broke his opponent twice, which opened the way to victory in the match. After 3 hours and 10 minutes, the Pole had the first match ball, which he used. He won 4:6, 7:6, 7:5, 6:2.
