Huge problems for a distinguished club. He is in danger of falling!
Dark clouds over Stal Gorzów. According to Interia, the famous speedway club has a debt of approximately PLN 10 million. The coming days may prove crucial regarding the future of the 9-time Polish champion.
In the case of Stal Gorzów this year, we can say that disaster followed disaster. First, the club suffered in terms of image when the distinguished coach Stanisław Chomski was fired before the matches for 3rd place. Then, no agreement was reached with Jakub Miśkowiak regarding a new contract and the player decided to leave. However, the real drama in Gorzów is now visible when it became known that Stal was struggling with serious financial problems.
Stal Gorzów won’t play in the league?!
The fourth team of the last PGE Ekstraliga season is expected to have a total debt of approximately PLN 10 million. This news was reported by Interia. The WP SportoweFakty portal also reported on the tense situation around the speedway in Gorzów. At this moment, everyone is debating how to help Stal.
At the moment, the club is in danger of not taking part in league games in the 2025 season. This would be a disaster of the highest order for a distinguished center. After all, Stal is a nine-time Polish champion, and the team from this city has often fought for the highest goals in recent years. Waldemar Sadowski, the club’s president, resigned after being heavily criticized by fans. It is not surprising that many people cannot understand how heavily Stal is in debt. Speedway riders have been waiting for payments for many months. It is no secret that Stal owes them money for half the season.
In the absence of Stal Gorzów in PGE Ekstraliga, Fogo Unia Leszno will again have a chance to play in the elite. Spadkowicz has built a strong squad to start in the backfield, so he would probably be able to cope in the top league as well.
Stal Gorzów and licensing matters
If in the coming days the city and sponsors spend a lot of money to save Stal Gorzów, then of course there will be a chance for this club to start in the top league. However, in the licensing process, Gorzów residents will only be able to count on a supervised license. The main problems will disappear for a while, and the activists will have to find a way to ensure the proper functioning of the team next year.
