Hubert Hurkacz made a sudden decision. Pole’s fans can be worried

Hubert Hurkacz

Hubert Hurkacz will not appear in the ATP 500 in Acapulco. The best Polish tennis player made a decision that makes it appear in the game only in March.

The beginning of the year was sweet and bitter for Hubert Hurkacz. In 2025, a Pole returned for good (and bad) after a serious knee injury, which excluded him from the game for half of the 2024 season. Australian Open Wielkopolska did not conquer, already falling off in the second round. But a dozen or so days later he managed to dust a bit during the ATP 500 in Rotterdam. The Pole reached the semi -finals during the tournament in the Netherlands.

Ultimately, he ended the struggle in Rotterdam “Hubi” on a defeat with Carlos Alcraz, one of the best tennis players of the world in recent years. However, the Spaniard won with a Pole in three parts, after a very good, high -level duel. This was optimistic about the next challenges on the horizon of the Pole. Unfortunately, Hurkacz disappointed again.

During the ATP 250 in Marseille, the Pole already lost in his first match. Hurkacz turned out to be weaker than the Chinese Zhizhen Zhang. So “Hubi” ended his performance in France at the second round, sadly sucking on February 13.

Since then, the Pole has not been on the court and there are many indications that he would appear again only during the famous tournament in Indian Wells (from March 5) in the United States. It will also be the first installment of the so -called “Sunshine Double”, adding later Miami Open, played in Sunny Florida.

Hurkacz withdrew from the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco. The Pole originally plans to perform in Mexico. However, it seems that apparently Hurkacz wants to spend more time training with a new coach in his staff. Let us remind you that “Hubi” began working with Nicolas Massu, a Chilean champion from years ago.

It is worse if in the absence of Hurkacz in the tournament in Mexico, we are talking about health problems. There were voices that the injured knee – although hypothetically cured – was to be told to the Pole during the competition. Although this negative scenario is less likely.

It remains only to hope that the Pole will be absence with Acapulco, translate into a later point conquest to the ATP ranking. Wrocław is currently in the 20th place in the world. And yet not so long ago, in the case of Hurkacz there was a player from the top dozens of ATP ranking.
