How Putin led NATO and the EU astray: “Poland could be ready in 5-8 years”
The war in Ukraine and the threats it poses to Europe have forced an immediate change of philosophy. From peaceful to warlike. It was realized that Moscow’s policy had led NATO and the EU astray. Assuming that the government manages to launch ammunition production, both in the public and private sectors, one can hope that in 5-8 years Poland will not only be self-sufficient, but will also have export capabilities.
Vladimir Putin, from the very beginning of taking power in Russia, set himself the goal of rebuilding the empire. The countries of Eastern Europe that had regained independence and the entire western part of our continent, united within the European Union and also constituting a strong alliance, NATO, stood in the way of his plans. Putin realized that confrontation with NATO and the EU is impossible without first weakening them at least. Hence his efforts to get closer to the Union and the Alliance.
He convinced everyone of his peaceful intentions. And over many years of such a policy, Russia managed to establish among European politicians, including Poland, that Russia under Putin’s leadership does not threaten anyone. This changed the perspective of perceiving Russia as a state that strives to consolidate peace.
As a consequence, since the beginning of the second decade of this century, NATO and EU countries have begun radically reducing their defence budgets, as well as reducing their armies, mainly the combat potential of operational forces.
Europe entered a phase of economizing on its security, while Russia was secretly expanding its military and hatching plans that the world is now colliding with in Ukraine.
The reduction of European military potential had its consequences for the arms industries.
