How Poland buys security. “This may be the biggest mistake of the 21st century.”
For years, it seemed that the strength of a country was determined by the number of tanks, planes and missile systems. However, the war in Ukraine showed something much more important. In the 21st century, the winners are not those who buy the most, but those who can design, produce and develop their own security technologies.
I have been participating in the debate on state security for many years. During this time, I have heard many times that Poland should buy modern equipment, increase defense spending and modernize its armed forces. All this remains extremely important. However, I have the impression that today we face a much greater challenge. We must answer the question whether we want to be only a recipient of security or also its co-creator. This is not just a matter of defense policy. This is a question about the future of the country.
