How often do Poles drink on vacation? Survey results debunk the myth

Alcohol seems to be an inseparable element of an all-inclusive holiday abroad. Pubs and restaurants by the Polish seaside are not complaining about the lack of guests either. Does the holiday atmosphere make Poles eagerly reach for alcohol? The latest SW Research survey for “Wprost” dispels the myth of Poles standing in line from morning for free drinks at the hotel bar. This confirms the trend developing in our country, which was noticed last year by the World Health Organization. According to it, Poland is falling in the inglorious rankings of the amount of alcohol consumed per citizen.

“How often do you drink alcohol (including beer) during a week-long holiday trip (in Poland or abroad)?” was the question answered by nearly a thousand respondents from all over Poland at the end of July. Tourists from Poland had a choice of several answers revealing their alcohol preferences. The results may be shocking for those for whom the stereotype of the Polish drunkard is still alive. The latest study conducted by SW Research for “Wprost” shows that holidaymakers from Poland do not need alcohol to have a good time at all, or at least not every day. The answer declaring that they drink alcoholic beverages during their holiday at least once a day was chosen by only 14.2 percent of respondents. Even fewer, only 8.3 percent of people taking part in the survey, revealed that they reach for alcohol even several times a day, at different times. Most Poles claim that during a week-long holiday (the most common length of holiday offered by travel agencies), they drink alcohol three to four times a day. This answer was chosen by 26.6 percent of respondents. 21.1 percent drink even less frequently, declaring that they drink alcohol no more than 1-2 times in seven days. Now comes the less obvious part of the results.
