How much do you really write on WhatsApp? This data will surprise you
WhatsApp is a daily contact tool for millions of people – it is not only used to send text messages, but also photos, voice recordings, video or location. The application saves all this activity and allows users to inspect detailed statistics that can surprise.
To reach statistics on your Android smartphone, start WhatsApp and click three dots in the upper right corner of the screen. We choose: “Settings” → “memory and data” → “use of the network”. There we will find, among others The exact number of messages sent and received, the amount of data used or the place occupied by the application on Google.
In the case of iPhones, the procedure looks similar – just open the application, enter the “settings” in the lower right corner, and then go to “memory and data” and choose “using the network”. At this point, the user can view all basic statistics of his account.
It is worth remembering that if someone has changed the phone number assigned to the WhatsApp account, the statistics start from scratch. They are collected only for the current number and do not include history from previous accounts.
Your most active contact
WhatsApp also offers a much more detailed insight into whom we contact most often. The “Manage Memory” function, also available in the “Memory and data” section, allows you to check how many messages, photos, voice recordings or locations have been replaced with individuals.
To check this data, open WhatsApp settings, enter “memory and data”, and then select “Manage memory”.
The list will include contacts with which we talk the most, ordered according to the amount of data occupied by the conversations. In this way, you can easily identify who dominates in our digital life. For many users, this can be surprising-sometimes the most data is absorbed by not the people with whom we have the most text conversations, but those to whom we send the most photos, movies or GIFs.
This is a place where we can compare our digital habits with loved ones. Are you a more active message or rather a passive recipient of the content? You can find the answer there.
WhatsApp without a phone? It is also possible
Only a few years ago, using WhatsApp without a physical phone with a SIM card was impossible. The messenger required an active telephone number and devices evaporation to be able to act in a browser version. For many users it was an obstacle, especially when they wanted to use the application on a computer at work or on travel.
Currently, the situation has changed radically. WhatsApp Web allows you to log in using the phone number, without the need to scan QR codes. The whole procedure is intuitive:
-
We are entering the WhatsApp Web page,
-
click “Instead, log in using the phone number”,
-
enter the phone number assigned to the WhatsApp account,
-
A message will appear on the phone screen about the attempt to connect to the computer,
-
After clicking “connect”, rewrite the code displayed on the computer screen for the application on the phone,
-
After a while we are logged in and we can use the messenger through the browser.
This mode of operation is particularly useful in the office, where it is easier to write messages from a physical keyboard and view attachments on the big screen. Importantly, the messenger works regardless of the phone, and the synchronization itself takes place in the background.
Statistics as a source of self -reflection
Although many users treat WhatsApp as an ordinary communication tool, data collected by the application can be a source of interesting applications. How much do you really send messages? Who dominates in your conversations? Are you more active in the evenings or in the morning? Analyzing statistics, you can find out what role the messenger plays in our everyday life – and whether by accident not too big.
Some decide on a digital detox after they realize that they send several hundred messages a day or devote several hours a day to online talks. For others, it’s just a curiosity and a way to find out how many gifs have sent to friends last week.
