During the “Gdynia – open city” event, organized by “Wprost”, a debate on the green transformation and cooperation of local government with developers and entrepreneurs took place. The invited guests agreed that only a common vision and specific actions can meet the challenges of the future.

In the debate “Wprost” – Ecology in Gdynia – the joint responsibility of the city and business was attended by: Edyta Korycka-Director of the Investment Planning Department, Plenipotentiary of the Management Board for ESG, Torus, Andrzej Trojaczek-Regional Director for the preparation and implementation of investments in the Tri-City, DEVELIA, Grzegorz Walczukiewicz-climate coordinator in the Metropolitan area of Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot and dr inż. Stanisław Wosiński – owner of ADR Technology. The conversation was conducted by Ewa Jagalska and Magda Grefkowicz, journalists of the Dom.wisło.

Edyta Korycka from Torus emphasized that Gdynia is becoming an increasingly accessible city – both in urban and ecological terms. She praised city availability standards that take into account the needs of the elderly, parents with children or cyclists.

Grzegorz Walczukiewicz from the Metropolitan Zone confirmed that the Tri -City is directing significant funds (about 30% of PLN 3 billion) to ecological investments and adaptation to climate change – including thermomodernization and supporting green spaces and the choice of water infrastructure.

Water – the biggest climate challenge

The issues of rainfall became one of the key topics. Experts emphasized that rapid rainfall requires the revitalization of urban spaces-through rain gardens, water and micro-lasa retention. However, their implementation depends on the more predictable strategic framework and financing, which should be shaped along with the metropolitan act.

Business as a transformation partner

Representatives of Developers Develia and Torus agreed that ecological transformation is not only a formal requirement, but a business strategy. Sustainable housing estates, green roofs, modular wooden construction and advanced energy efficiency support systems are elements that are increasingly going to projects.

– There is no discrepancy between the interests of the industry, the city and residents – noted Edyta Korycka (Torus). – We participate in certified investments, we use energy control systems and AI assisted solar installations – said Gdynia City Logistics logistics.

Andrzej Trojaczek (Develia) reminded that “green transformation” is to mean permanent investments: – We design for 100 years, not only at 5-10. This strategy means, among others Greenery cooling spaces, gazebos or trees protecting against the sun.

Community instead of competition

The integrity of business and city activities is possible thanks to new coordination mechanisms: integrated investment plans and work teams based on social consultations. – Dialogue city -investor is the future of sustainable development, but requires new ways of planning common goals – emphasized the participants of the debate.

Conscious customer – cost or value?

The discussion also covered costs. Ecological materials can still be more expensive. Consumers are becoming more and more aware, but decisions often depend on the compromise between the price and the standard. – Pro -ecological materials and solutions are still niche and expensive, but customers care about recycling, energy efficiency and recreation – said the triplets.

Integrated approach for the future

According to participants, the key is a plan – metropolitan and inter -sectoral. Developer investments should be part of a larger vision. Gdynia, acting together with Gdańsk and Sopot, becomes a key regional partner creating new standards for Polish cities.

During the debate, it was emphasized that progress requires constant dialogue, meetings and working teams – both formal and informal. It is through the cooperation of business, city and citizens that it will be possible to build a friendly, climate -resistant and socially involved space.

The debate confirmed the belief that ecology in Gdynia has a chance to become a common mission of all stakeholders. For investors, this means the need to implement innovative technologies, for the city – the responsibility of strategic planning, and for residents – growing awareness and impact on the environment. Finally, the hope sounded that consistent coordination and open dialogue can make the Tri -City a model of real green transformation.
