Houses in Poland disappear from the map. These cities are leading in demolitions

Zaskakujące dane o rozbiórkach w Polsce

In Poland, hardly anyone undresses houses. Experts checked where the buildings disappear most often.

Although in many places vacancies and houses are in terrible technical condition, demolition in Poland is still rare. There is definitely more talk about new investments, not about buildings that disappear from the map. Meanwhile, it is also worth looking at the other side of the real estate market.

– Information on the number of premises and houses emerging is very popular. Demolitions are a topic far away into the shadow. Rightly? In response to this question, it is worth paying attention to the results of the last census of the CSO, talking about almost 500,000 empty rural houses and premises – notes Andrzej Prajsnar, an expert of the Gethome.pl portal.

The CSO calculates demolitions

Experts of the Gethome.pl portal have emphasized several times that few residential buildings are undressing in Poland.

– The information of the Central Statistical Office (CSO) about defects in the housing resource is much less popular than analogous statistics regarding the premises put into use and started in use – adds Andrzej Prajsnar.

How does GUS define cavities in the housing resource?

According to the Central Statistical Office, housing defects are all physical losses of houses and premises. These include:

  • demolition of building objects,

  • administrative decisions ordering forced demolition,

  • permits to change the function of a building or apartment for purposes other than housing,

  • Decisions on the demolition of unused, damaged or unfinished facilities that cannot be renovated or rebuilt.

– Changes in the use of a house or apartment to non -residential are rare, so you can treat housing defects primarily as a result of demolition. GUS reports that there were very few such defects in Poland in Poland. They concerned about 2,600 premises and houses. The described situation does not surprise, because since 2010 the nationwide result has not once exceeded the level of 3500 – says Prajsnar.

Where in Poland the most demolitions?

On the Gethome.pl portal prepared by experts, we can see that last year’s housing defects were unevenly distributed territorially.

– Attention is drawn to the situation from Upper Silesia (especially Bytom), Poznań and Bydgoszcz. The last city is the only one where more than 100 houses and premises have lost last year – notes Prajsnar.
