Horror on a holiday island. A 2-year-old died after swimming in the sea

Another vacation turned into tragedy. The child, although under the care of his parents and on a tourist beach, did not survive these holidays. Even a few days of help didn’t help.

It might seem that this place is a real paradise. Beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia, fairy-tale views and the sea at a perfect temperature for swimming. The nightmare began when the child was injured while playing in the sea. Contact with a jellyfish was enough.

Tragedy on a paradise beach

The situation took place last weekend in Malaysia on an archipelago in the Andaman Sea on the island of Langkawi. It was in the local waters that a 2-year-old boy, under the constant care of his parents, refreshed himself. He died on November 19 after doctors fought for his life for four days. The problem turned out to be contact with the dangerous jellyfish, the so-called sea wasp.

The child was bitten quite unexpectedly while playing in shallow water. At one point, a loud cry of pain could be heard on the beach. The father immediately carried the boy to the shore and after a while he started resuscitating him, because it turned out that he was not breathing. Local rescuers washed the wound with vinegar and referred the child to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

The fight for the 2-year-old’s life lasted a long time, but despite intensive therapy, he could not be saved. The jellyfish he came into contact with is considered deadly. It usually inhabits tropical and subtropical waters and may pose a threat to human life. It is estimated that each individual contains enough toxin to kill 60 adults.

The beach on Langkawi was supposed to be safe

During such tragedies, many people always wonder whether tourists have chosen a safe and reliable place to swim. Sometimes it happens that we ignore prohibitions or advice from rescuers. This time, however, everything happened as it should. The island of Langkawi, along with the main town of Kuah, is a large and popular island. The beach at Pantai Cenang, where the family was staying, was considered popular.

Before the incident, beachgoers had reported sightings of jellyfish in Pantai Cenang. After the tragedy, lifeguards on Langkawi increased surveillance of beaches and appealed to tourists to be especially careful. It is also recommended to report any unusual incidents.
