Holidays under the magnifying glass of the treasury. Receipt control action has started

Paragon

Didn’t you get a receipt? You can report it. The treasury fights fraud and calls for reporting a lack of receipts.

Receipt fraud is still a serious problem in Poland, especially during the holiday season. The Ministry of Finance appeals to clients to pay attention to irregularities while shopping and encourages to report situations in which they do not receive a receipt or see that sellers collect unpaid receipts.

Empty textures

Pursuant to the regulations, each entrepreneur is required to issue a fiscal receipt after making the transaction. Despite this, the ministry indicates that one of the more frequent abuses is the lack of a receipt to the inattentive customer or collecting unreleased documents. These types of activities can lead to the formation of so -called “Empty” invoices – documents that do not reflect the actual purchase, but are aimed at, for example, to overtake costs or extorting VAT.

The Ministry of Finance reminds that every citizen can report the case of a receipt. Applications can be submitted directly to the Tax Office or using the E-Paragon application. In the summer there is an additional educational campaign, which aims to limit the so -called gray zone and increasing consumer awareness.

Waiter receipt

Deputy Minister of Finance Leszek Skiba emphasizes that even such a simple activity as taking a receipt when buying fuel can help reduce irregularities. The ministry also reminds that clients are often issued by the so -called Waiter receipt – is only a list of order prepared by the service that has no fiscal power. It is similar with a printout from the terminal – this is proof of payment, but it does not replace the receipt.

How to recognize a real fiscal receipt? It should contain the inscription “Fiscal receipt”, company NIP number, name and point of sale. In addition, there is a logo in the middle and a unique cash number.

Treasury controls are increasingly intense. In 2024, nearly 60,000 were carried out. Such inspections, and the sum of the imposed fines amounted to PLN 20.4 million. The most frequently checked sector is gastronomy and retail. These activities are to increase the effectiveness of enforcement of tax obligations and eliminate unfair practices.
