Holidays on the Baltic Sea are becoming more and more expensive. Families will pay up to PLN 10,000. zloty

Tomorrow is the end of the school year, which in practice means that millions of Poles will start their holidays. As shown by the report “Holiday Portfolio of Poles 2026”, prepared by the Polish Bank Association (ZBP), Poles are preparing for more expensive holidays than last year.

2000 plus for holidays

The average declared amount of expenditure per person this season is PLN 2,042. This is PLN 281 more than in 2025. The average household plans to spend PLN 5,105 on summer recreation, which is over PLN 700 more than a year ago (an increase of as much as 16% year-on-year).

The authors of the report point out that holidays remain an important item in the household budget. For many families, this means the need to plan in advance, compare different trip options and look for solutions tailored to the available budget. Despite rising costs, most respondents try to avoid debt. As much as 80 percent respondents declare that they do not plan to use a loan or loan to organize a holiday. The Polish Bank Association emphasizes that this proves the continued high financial awareness of households.

The report shows a decline in interest in recreation in the country. This year, 53 percent are planning such a trip. respondents, which is the lowest result since the beginning of the study (a year ago it was 57%, and in 2022 it was over 60%). However, the number of people planning trips abroad is growing. 26 percent have such plans. respondents, by 3 percentage points. more than in 2025. In the opinion of the report’s authors, this increase may be surprising in the context of current geopolitical conflicts. However, every third Pole emphasizes that when planning holidays abroad, they only choose countries considered safe. A similar percentage checks the announcements and warnings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and analyzes the opinions of other tourists regarding the safety of their stay. 30 percent Poles buy additional travel insurance.

Cheaper in Masuria

To show how declared expenses translate into real costs, the report analyzed several popular recreation models. One of the cheaper options is a week-long car trip to Masuria. In the case of a 2+2 family, the choice of accommodation is the most important – a camping site costs on average PLN 1,155 per week, while a summer house or agritourism stays for over PLN 3,400. Additionally, you need to take into account the cost of travel – on the example Kielce-Giżycko-Kielce route it is approximately PLN 425. Food is also an important part of the budget. An example family dinner in Masuria costs approximately PLN 268, which, if you eat outside your accommodation every day, can significantly increase the total cost of the trip.

A stay on the Baltic Sea is clearly more expensive. In the analyzed variant, a week’s trip to Gdańsk for a 2+2 family involves an average cost of PLN 5,114 for renting an apartment. This should include travel, for example by train from Krakow to Gdańsk and back, the cost of which – depending on the connection option – ranges from PLN 588 to PLN 1,468. Food is also more expensive: a holiday dinner set for a 2+2 family currently costs PLN 322, which is about PLN 18 more than a year earlier. The total price of a week’s stay on the Baltic Sea can be up to PLN 10,000.

As mentioned, every fourth Pole is planning a trip abroad this year, often in the all-inclusive formula. This model allows you to estimate most of the costs already at the booking stage, because the package usually includes flight, transfer, accommodation, meals and insurance. However, it is still worth including additional reserves for trips, local attractions, souvenirs and insurance. In this year’s ranking, the average prices of all-inclusive offers for a 2+2 family range from approximately PLN 16,000. up to PLN 18,500, depending on the field of study. The largest year-on-year increase can be seen in Egypt, where the family offer is more than PLN 4,900,000 more expensive. PLN than in 2025.
