Holidays divided in the same way as holidays? The Ministry of National Education has announced the dates for 2027
The Ministry of National Education has received an official request to divide the summer holidays like spring break. The idea is to assign different dates to different voivodeships.
The Ministry of National Education has issued an official position on the calendar for 2027, which also includes future holidays. The resort also referred to the idea of dividing the holidays in such a way as to reduce crowds and extend the tourist season. This request was submitted by MP Piotr Uruski from PiS.
Holidays like holidays? The Ministry of National Education commented on the idea of several dates
In interpellation no. 18944 of July 29, the politician argued that a common holiday date causes the accumulation of tourist traffic in a short period. This, in turn, leads to a burden on roads and tourist infrastructure, and the demand for accommodation is concentrated in the peak season. The politician pointed to Germany as an example here, where holidays do not start at the same time in all federal states.
The Ministry of National Education’s response to the idea of split holidays
Deputy Minister Katarzyna Lubnauer, in response to the interpellation of August 17, stated that the Ministry of Education does not plan to change the current method of organizing summer holidays or introduce different holiday dates for other voivodeships.
Arguments of the Ministry of National Education against divided holidays
So we stick to the official calendar of the 2026/2027 school year. It is stated in it that teaching and educational activities will end on June 25, 2027. Then on June 26 we have the beginning of the summer holidays, and August 31 is the last day of the summer break.
The Ministry of National Education gave three main arguments against the changes. Attention was paid to the eighth-grade and high school leaving exams, which are held on one date throughout the country. Different dates for the end of the school year would make such a solution impossible. Teachers’ leaves related to the schedule of administrative work in schools were mentioned. It was also argued that families living near voivodeship borders and whose children study in another region would have problems with holiday dates.
