Higher severance pay and full -time protection. From January, a revolution in schools
From January, teachers will gain new privileges – higher severance pay and protection against release four years before retirement.
The Sejm adopted an amendment to the Teacher’s Card, which introduces significant changes in the regulations regarding pensions and the protection of employment of educators. The new regulations that will come into force on January 1, 2026 provide for higher severance pay for teachers retiring or disability and reinforced pre -retirement protection.
Retirement briefings
The amendment assumes one-off pension severance pay, the amount of which will depend on seniority. Teachers with at least 10 years of experience will receive a severance pay in the amount of a two-month salary. After 15 years of work, it will be three times of salary, and after 20 years – as much as six times of salary. The latter option is a complete novelty in the regulations.
For example – a certified teacher with a minimum basic salary of PLN 6,210.75 gross will receive a briefing of over 37 thousand. PLN gross. Check -in will also be entitled to people employed less than a part -time.
Pre -retirement protection
Another important change concerns pre -retirement protection. From September 1, 2025, teachers employed for an indefinite period or on the basis of appointment who are no more than four years to reach retirement age, it will not be possible to terminate the contract – provided that their employment allows obtaining a pension in a timely manner.
The new regulations also provide for exceptions. Pre -retirement protection does not apply to the liquidation of the school, a negative assessment of the teacher’s work, the inability to limit employment or refusal to accept a new dimension of work.
These changes are to improve the financial situation of teachers ending their professional careers and ensure their greater employment safety in the last years of work.
