The trainer of the Warsaw club is certainly one of the most interesting characters of the young generation, if you look at trainers in PlusLiga. He comes from Gdańsk, where he also took his first coaching steps. Interestingly, it began with actions in women’s retina. Graban worked, among others in the now defunct Atom Trefl Sopot team. One of the giants in the domestic yard at one time. It was in Sopot – as the second coach – Graban reached for his first Polish championship in 2013.
The trainer started working with men after leaving the country as a coach of IBB Polonia London. Graban reached for the championship title in England (2017), and also won the National Cup (2017). And he added solid performances in European cups, in this case, in this case, he was talking about the Challange Cup.
After returning to Poland, Graban worked again in the Tri -City, this time as an assistant under the baton of coach Andrea Anastasi. This duo moved from Trefl Gdańsk to Warsaw. After releasing the Italian in November 2022, Graban started working as a “one” at the training staff of the Warsaw project. In the last season (i.e. 2023/24), the Warsaw team under the baton of the Polish coach reached for the bronze PlusLiga Medal, also winning the Challenge Cup.
In addition, the Polish trainer also had the opportunity to have a representative experience, be it in Georgia (2022 as a trainer) or as an assistant in the well -known Raul Lozano in Poland, in the team of Ukraine (2024).
In 2025, Grabana will see as a coach of the Polish U-21 team. So the direct facilities of seniors, where actually, some characters will appear interchangeably. Examples? These are the latest, resulting from the vocations of the wide composition of coach Nikola Grbic (to the League of Nations 2025), where characters such as Central Jakub Nowak (first league from Lechia Tomaszów Mazowiecki) and Libero Maksymilian Graniczny (Cuprum Stilon Gorzów Wielkopolski) appeared.
How did Graban assess the decisions of Grbic towards these two?
– It is certainly not a surprise to me, because Maks Graniczny is already playing in PlusLiga and defends himself with his volleyball skills: reception, defense, but also with a character and approach to sport. It’s nice that he got a chance, especially since this year the team is a little younger and I am sure that it will be an important experience for him to work with seniors, Nikola Grbic and other trainers who will be there. It certainly does not bother me that he will join me a little later, because it is an experience that will gain, will come out only on a plus. As for Jakub Nowak, he shows great in the first league, I watched him, I watched several of his matches on TV. I think he deserved to touch this senior staff, and he can be a great benefit for the future-admitted the new U-21 team selector in an interview published on the PZPS website.
The trainer remains to wish good luck. Certainly Graban will want to show his best side in an important position in the pyramid of PZPS. And this can only work for the benefit of developing volleyballers of the young generation.
