A total of 170 people were financed from the Polish Olympic Committee’s funds to stay in Paris. This group included not only members of the committee’s presidium and board and representatives of sports associations, but also, among others, a representative of the Polish Episcopate, sponsors, winners of Olympic competitions and members of parliament and local government officials.
The internal audit was supposed – according to Onet’s findings – to show some doubts regarding the financing of the stay of some members of the Polish delegation. Some invited guests were to be accompanied by more than one person, and the Polish Olympic Committee paid for everything anyway.
Duda resigned, Poręba benefited
The biggest problems were supposed to concern Andrzej Duda. A year before the Olympic Games, the Polish Olympic Committee was to reserve two double rooms for the president and his associates in the five-star Hotel Napoleon. According to Onet, nearly PLN 34,000 was paid for them. euro, i.e. approximately 150 thousand zlotys. Ultimately, the head of state decided not to use this accommodation option. Andrzej Duda, like Sławomir Nitras, spent the night at the Polish embassy in Paris. The Chancellery of the President did not respond to questions about the reasons for withdrawing from the Polish Olympic Committee’s offer.
As Onet found out, however, the reservation was canceled so late that it could not be canceled.
