James Howells has been fighting for recovery of lost bitcoins for 10 years. The court and city authorities block its activities, and the cryptocurrency value exceeds PLN 3 billion.

James Howells, a resident of Newport in Wales, has been trying to recover the lost hard disk containing 8,000 bitcoins for over a decade. Its current value is over PLN 3 billion, but the search is effectively blocked by the city authorities. Officials do not agree to search the local landfill, where there is most likely a valuable carrier, arguing with ecological issues and high costs of surgery.

Howell’s application rejected by the court

The case went to the Supreme Court of England and Wales, which rejected Howell’s application for permission to search the dump. Newport authorities remain relentless, despite the numerous investment proposals they received to finance the search. According to “The Guardian”, they argue that the search surgery could negatively affect the environment and be very expensive.

The city’s new plans may prevent search

An additional complication for Welsh are the plans of Newport authorities, which decided to close the rash and allocate the area for the construction of a solar farm. Howells does not hide the surprise that when he wanted to carry out search work, the city authorities referred to ecological considerations, and now they decide to completely liquidate the landfill.

I want to buy a dump to recover a fortune

Desperate Howells does not lay down the weapon and considers the purchase of a dump. He claims he has already talked with potential investors who could support his efforts. It is not known, however, whether the city will consider such a proposal, especially since the solar farm construction project has already been approved.

James Howells is standing in front of the key moment. If he manages to recover the disk, he will become the owner of a huge fortune and sign up in the history of cryptocurrencies. However, if Newport authorities remain relentless, his dreams of recovering Bitcoins may always remain unfulfilled.
