He does not mow, he does not bark, and yet he steals the hearts of thousands of people. A fur companion from Japan can react to touch, “learn” and develop its own character. It sells so well that the manufacturer does not keep up with the implementation of orders.
A fur robot called Moflin became a real sensation in Japan. Equipped with modern artificial intelligence, he is able to remember its owner and gradually shape a unique personality, depending on the way it is “brought up”. Since the premiere in November, buyers have already found over 7,000 copies, and the demand is still at a high level.
Moflin was created in the laboratories of the Casio Computer Casio Casio Computer Giant. The robot is distinguished not only by a soft, plush appearance, but also by the possibility of creating an emotional bond with the user. Thanks to AI, he can recognize his guardian and modify the reactions depending on his behavior. Caresses, hugging or conversation have a direct impact on what “character” will develop.
Over 4 million possible characters
Company representatives emphasize that each copy can become completely different from the others. “The robot has up to 4 million possible personality traits,” says the manufacturer. They are shaped in response to interactions with the owner. Individual mofins differ in behavior, emotions and even the rhythm of sleep, which – as users say – reminds the care of a real animal.
The main group of recipients are women aged 30-40 – the product was directed to them. They appreciate the possibility of “raising” a unique pet, which does not require the daily duties that are associated with the care of a living animal.
The price of the robot is 59.4 thousand yen, or about PLN 1.4 thousand. Casio also offers additional services, for example, professional fur cleaning, which is to increase the comfort of use.
So far, over 7,000 copies have been sold, and interest is still growing – this indicates that Moflin has a chance to become one of the most popular technological gadgets of recent years.
