The incident that took place at Lech Wałęsa Airport in Gdańsk shows that sometimes a minor issue can lead to a huge brawl.
A 44-year-old passenger from Ukraine arrived at Lech Wałęsa Airport in Gdańsk on Wednesday, August 21. As it turned out, there had been a mistake when booking the tickets, which required an additional fee. When the tourist heard from the airport employee that he would have to bear additional travel costs, he went crazy.
The man was so aggressive that officers from the Border Guard Special Intervention Team intervened. The 44-year-old did not care at all and continued to behave aggressively.

After repeated requests for calming down were ineffective, the officers decided to forcibly remove the passenger. – The passenger was overpowered. The officers used a gas thrower and handcuffed him.. As it turned out, the would-be traveler was intoxicated, explained Tadeusz Gruchalla, spokesman for the Maritime Border Guard Unit in Gdańsk.
According to information provided by the services, after he sobered up at the Social Emergency Home for Intoxicated Persons in Gdańsk, border guards fined the 44-year-old from Ukraine 1,000 PLN.
The Border Guard statement emphasized that Since the beginning of the year, this was the 75th intervention of officers at the Gdańsk airport against persons violating security conditions.

One of the most recent interventions was undertaken in July. A 55-year-old from Kartuzy County was detained for being aggressive and vulgar towards airport employees after being informed that his hand luggage was too large.
“Since the traveler did not want to voluntarily leave the departure zone and did not follow the orders of the Border Guard officers, he was overpowered and forcibly led away in handcuffs. In the Border Guard service premises, he was offered a ticket for disturbing order in a public place and failing to follow the orders of the Border Guard officer, but he did not accept it, so the case will be decided by the District Court in Gdańsk,” the statement read at the time.
