The record fish grabbed the hook and the rod fluttered. And here we have a new catfish record! How much did the specimen weigh?

Tyler Harmon – a Ravenswood resident – went to the Ohio River with his family. It was a spontaneous trip – he didn’t expect to set a new record.

However, fate wanted the moments spent with loved ones to be accompanied by unique emotions. At one point, a giant blue catfish (Ictalurus furcatus) was tempted to use the bait (pieces of Cyprinidae – cyprinidae, specifically silver carp – Hypophthalmichthys molitrix).

How much did the Ictaluridae fish weigh? The details were provided by the editorial office of the WTAP portal.

The catfish barely fit in the frame!

After pulling it ashore, Harmon quickly placed the specimen on a certified scale.

She weighed as much as 72.75 pounds (32.99 kilograms).

However, this had to be confirmed by representatives of the wildlife department who were called to the site. After meeting the guidelines, they officially confirmed the new West Virginia state record!
