He achieved great success with the national team, now he will take over the Polish club. A difficult challenge from a famous trainer

In recent days, Zagłębie Lubin said goodbye to coach Waldemar Fornalik and director Piotr Burlikowski. The big change was caused by the unsatisfactory results of the club from Lower Silesia. The club’s owners were not idle and quickly found a new trainer. He has a difficult task, because on Thursday the Lubin team will play in the Polish Cup, and they are also in the relegation zone of the PKO Ekstraklasa.

The former coach of the Polish youth national teams will work in the Ekstraklasa

Ekstraklasowicz decided on a non-obvious choice. Marcin Włodarski became the new coach. This is a well-known name to fans of national football. The coach, born in 1982, has been the coach of the national team under 16, 17 and 18 in recent years. He achieved his greatest success with the latter team.

Last year, the U17 team made a big surprise by winning the bronze medal at the European Championships. Thanks to this, he also got the opportunity to play at the junior world championships. He is known as a man who cooperates well with young people, which may be an advantage for Zagłębie, known for its academy.

– I am very pleased because, let’s face it, Zagłębie is one of the largest clubs in Poland. The team includes several boys with whom I have already had the opportunity to work with the Polish national team. This is a club that, on a national scale, strongly focuses on Poles and young players, so I think I will fit in well with the team. The new coach signed a contract with the club until the end of the current season. Zagłębie Lubin is currently in 16th position in the PKO Ekstraklasa table.
