Siłownia

The debt of the gym, fitness clubs and personal trainers is a total of PLN 36 million – according to KRD data. It’s 9 % more than a year ago.

It would seem that the fashion for being fit among Poles is a financial harvest for entities from the fitness industry. Meanwhile, it turns out that as many as 1414 entities from this sector are struggling with debts.

Huge gym debt

The data of the National Debt Register (KRD) shows that the total debt of the gym, fitness clubs and personal trainers is PLN 36 million. It is nearly 9 percent more than a year ago. On average, three expired financial liabilities worth 25.4 thousand zloty.

The debt of entities such as gyms or fitness clubs may result from several factors. One of them is the growing costs of doing business. Electricity bills, the consumption of which is significant, as well as the costs associated with renting large areas in large cities, are certainly felt for gym owners. Another difficulty are the growing employee costs and high competition in the industry – comments Adam Łącki, President of the National Board of the Debt Register of the Economic Information Bureau.

The worst in Mazovia

Entities located in the province are struggling with the greatest debt. Mazowiecki (over PLN 10 million). Silesia (over PLN 5 million) is the infamous runner -up. Wielkopolska (PLN 3.3 million) is on the lowest step of the podium. On the other side is the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, where the arrears are less than 180 thousand. zloty. Such regional diversity results from the greater concentration of this type of facilities in large urban agglomerations, in addition, it is in them that the competition is greater, and thus the outlays for investments are also higher than in the case of locations where these facilities are less functioning.

The head of the KRD points out that the problems of the fitness industry also result from the fact that for Poles struggling with financial problems, the gym expenses are one of the first we give up when we lack money, when there is a lack of money, e.g. to pay bills. – As many as 61 percent of respondents declared that they would pay them at the very end. Only subscriptions have lower priority – emphasizes Adam Łącki.

Among the creditors of fitness clubs and gym are the most entities from the financial and insurance industry. They have almost PLN 25 million to recover.
