Has Adam Małysz had enough? Shocking words from a legend after his Olympic success
The sports career of Adam Małysz is certainly one of the most beautiful winter sports cards in Poland. Currently, he is the president of PZN, but that is another story.
Ski jumping at the Winter Olympics 2026 was successfully defended again. Kacper Tomasiak’s three medals, including one won in duets with Paweł Wąsek, once again showed that this is the strongest card among winter sports in Poland.
Overall, however, everyday winter life is certainly far from ideal, considering the reality on the Vistula River. And the head of the Polish Ski Association is Adam Małysz. A ski jumping legend who, due to his function, has to worry about many more aspects of the winter sports season than the results of ski jumpers.
Will Adam Małysz leave PZN? Surprising words from a ski jumping legend
The four-time Olympic medalist replaced Apoloniusz Tajner, his coach in the past, as the head of the Polish Football Association, looking at his duties in the Polish national team. Małysz was previously the director and coordinator of ski jumping and Nordic combined at PZN. He will become the head of the federation in 2022.
It must be openly admitted that, for example on the occasion of Winter Winter 2026, President Małysz was often under fire. There was a lot of confusion around issues related to, among others: with appointments to the Olympics and the conflict between PZN and the Polish Olympic Committee.
Finally, just before the start of the Olympic competition, it seems that all the confusion has been resolved. But the fact is, it is difficult to write unambiguously that in the case of PZN, in recent months or years – everything is perfect.
– There are many elements that I don’t like at all, and I’m not at the stage in my life where I have to do things that don’t give me pleasure. Besides, I don’t want to be in the limelight if I’m not doing it with passion. It’s very difficult (…) And it’s not just about the last three weeks, but the whole four years. The life of an activist, inside games and sitting behind a desk is not really my style. I’m angry that I didn’t have time to travel with the boys to the competition to help them there. I must admit that I felt much better as a sports director standing under the ski jump – admitted Małysz in an interview for WP/SportoweFakty.
Moreover, the president of the Polish Football Association admitted during a press conference that he would go to the next Winter Olympics (i.e. in 2030) as a fan. So is it time to look towards the new head of the federation? This probably cannot be ruled out, although there is no certainty that there will be a lot of new candidates to possibly take over the helm of PZN.
Operating in winter sports in Poland is certainly a tough nut to crack.
