– In January 2026, the median gross monthly salary in the national economy amounted to PLN 7,447.16 and was 20.4% lower than the average gross monthly salary – The Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Wednesday.

The median remuneration of PLN 7,447.16 gross means that in the first month of 2026, half of the employees were paid remuneration not higher than this amount, and the other half received remuneration not lower. Let us recall that in December the median salary was PLN 7,907 gross, i.e. over PLN 460 more. This amount was then 19.4 percent. lower than the average monthly salary.

The Central Statistical Office emphasizes that the value of the median salary varied depending on gender. For men it was PLN 7,590 gross, while for women it was PLN 7,289.17 gross.

Taking into account the age of employees, the highest value of the median salary was recorded in the 45-54 age group – it amounted to PLN 7,743 gross. The lowest value was recorded in the group of 24 years and younger – it amounted to PLN 5,914.29 gross. In turn, according to the size of the entity, the highest value of the median salary was recorded in entities employing 1,000 or more people – PLN 8,687.15 gross, and the lowest in entities employing 9 or fewer people – PLN 4,806 gross.

It is worth recalling that data on the median salary is an indicator that shows average real earnings in Poland better than data on the average salary in the national economy. In January 2026, it amounted to PLN 9,352.97 gross. As the Central Statistical Office notes, this is by 20.4%. more than the median gross monthly salary. The average salary among men was PLN 9,668.77 gross, while among women it was PLN 9,031.66 gross.
