Nowa Itaka spółka z o. o. fell victim to a hacker attack – informed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski. As he said, “the login details of some customers” of the travel agency were leaked.

– NASK specialists remain in ongoing contact with the ITAKA travel agency, from which the login details of some customers were leaked. Operational activities of the services have also begun to detect the perpetrators, Gawkowski wrote on social media.

The Minister also announced that in the near future every customer will be able to check on the websitebezpieczdane.gov.pl whether their data has been disclosed.

Minister Gawkowski advises how to behave

In a post posted on the X platform, Gawkowski also explained how anyone affected by the effects of a hacker attack should behave. Here are the minister’s instructions:

  1. Change your password – in all places where you used the same one.

  2. Enable 2FA wherever possible – two-factor login that limits the possibility of account takeover.

  3. Use a password manager – it generates strong, unique passwords that don’t need to be remembered.

  4. Monitor your account and e-mail box – possible phishing attempts impersonating the website from which the data was leaked.

  5. Reserve your PESEL number – then no one will assume financial obligations on your data; you can do it in the mObywatel application.

– In such situations, every injured party should take action quickly! – advises Gawkowski.
