“Haaland Effect”, i.e. 100 tons of carrots eaten. Norwegian integrity
How to encourage children to eat vegetables regularly? Just like Manchester City’s center forward, Norwegian Erling Haaland – effortlessly.
This particular weekly report from the Norwegian Agricultural Authority (Landbruksdirektoratet) will probably go down in history – Norwegians bought about 100 tons more carrots than in the same period last year.
Little Norwegians dragged their parents to the vegetable stands for “Haaland’s sweets”, i.e. carrots. It was enough for the football star, Erling Haaland, to appear in an advertising campaign for the Norwegian fruit and vegetable giant Bama, in which, among other things, he drove a forklift, munching on carrots.
The Norwegian sells vegetables and seafood. Children imitate stars
As we know, it is difficult to get children to eat vegetables. There are several reasons for this state of affairs. In addition to the natural fear of new and unfamiliar foods, which usually appears between the ages of 2 and 3, there is also the bitter taste of many vegetables, which children do not like, as well as the texture: lumps and fibers.
However, all this fades into the background when your favorite footballer scores seven goals in four World Cup matches in the United States and at the same time eagerly munches on carrots. You don’t even have to bring home the trophy – Norway was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after losing to England 1-2 in the quarter-finals.
Interestingly, Haaland may also have contributed to record seafood exports. He appeared in commercials for Norwegian salmon, one of which was shown on the big screen in Times Square during the World Cup in the USA.
Christian Chramer, director of the Seafood Council, stated in an interview with the Norwegian television NRK that the participation of the Norwegian team in the World Championships increased interest in seafood from Norway both in Asia and in Germany, Spain and Italy.
Integrity by Erling Haaland. He eats healthy not only in advertising
What is the reason for the Norwegian’s success? Probably “integrity”, i.e. absolute coherence between the values professed, the promises made and real deeds.
Facts prove that food is very important to Norwegians and that they do not eat just anything on a daily basis. The Norwegian team brought over 400 kg of fish (halibut, trout and Arctic char), including over 300 kg of Atlantic salmon, and over 116 kg of brunost, i.e. the classic Norwegian caramelized brown cheese, to the US base. All this so that the competitors do not have to rely on American food.
Erling Haaland himself also eats healthily. his choice is the so-called paleo diet. The basis of the Norwegian footballer’s menu are products that are as natural and minimally processed as possible, including: meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, eggs, rice and honey. He drinks filtered water and often raw milk.
He chooses meat from local suppliers and free-range. He has said many times that he also likes to eat offal (mainly heart and liver). Before every match, he eats lasagna or pasta with toppings. However, it limits highly processed foods, refined sugar and industrial additives.
