On Thursday, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) presented preliminary data on GDP in the first quarter of this year. – According to rapid respect, gross domestic product (GDP) seasonally unparalleled in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 3.2% year on year – Gus said.
The office reminds that in the same period last year there was an increase of 2.2 percent. In terms of the quarter to the quarter of the GDP, it increased by 0.7 percent. This means a slight slowdown against the fourth quarter of 2024, when economic growth was 3.4 percent. year on year.

In the following quarters, we expect acceleration primarily thanks to growing investments. In the whole 2025, the Polish economy will be one of the fastest growing in the EU – the head of the Ministry of Finance wrote.
Inflation inhibits
The CSO presented preliminary data on GDP on Thursday, as well as final data on April inflation. It amounted to 4.3 percent year to year, compared to 4.9 percent in March. This reading is slightly higher than preliminary respect, which amounted to 4.2 percent.
Detailed data provided by the Central Statistical Office show that prices in April – compared to the same period of 2024 – increased the most in the category “use of an apartment or house and energy carriers” (an increase of 10.8 percent). Similar increases were recorded in the categories of “alcoholic beverages and tobacco products” and “non -alcoholic foods and drinks” (by 6.1 and 5.3 percent, respectively). On the other hand, the decrease in prices was recorded in the “apartment equipment and household equipment” category (0.5 percent reduction).
